Hi, I’m Maria and through this channel I want to share my passion for dancing to jazz music with you.
As a teenager I danced (modern) Jazz Dance for a while and tried some Ballet. Few years ago, when I discovered Afro-American vernacular dances, like Charleston and Lindy Hop I was captivated by the creativity, craziness, and imperfection these dances allow.
When I dance to jazz music, I feel pure joy and freedom. I would like to transmit this feeling to you and hope you enjoy it.

20s Charleston Dance Tutorial - Full Choreography to the Song "Black Bottom"
In this video, I present you the full breakdown of my 20s Charleston choreography to the song "Black Bottom". Here is the original video: ua-cam.com/video/GH79MhBHN5s/v-deo.html
We practice to dance at 0.75 speed of the music. It's good to start slower and when you feel comfortable with the routine you can challenge yourself with the original tempo.
I've tried to show everything step by step so that you can learn this routine as well if you like. Due to the format, however, I couldn't exlain all movements in detail. But I still hope that you find this video interesting. I'm happy if I can motivate some of you to start learning Charleston and Solo Jazz. It's so much fun!
So, stand up and dance with me!
PS: Sorry for my poor English and few inconsistencies in counting during the explanations. That's my first online dance tutorial ever. ;-)

Change your Shim Sham - Full Routine with Variations
Переглядів 137 тис.2 роки тому
The Shim Sham is the best-known solo jazz routine in swing dance. I've put some variations in it and it's just one version out of millions of possibilities. Music: "Tuxedo Junction" played by Glenn Crytzer's Savoy Seven If you want to learn Authentic Swing Dance, I can recommend you Swing Base, a dance school based in Berlin. I'm dancing here in their cozy studio. Have a look on their UA-cam Ch...

Wow!
💃🪩
Maria, you're the best!
This is the side of UA-cam I can enjoy ☺️ 💃
Probably one of my most favorite Charleston performances : full of happiness, healthy youth and feminine sassy grace. I also like the urban setting with the water, adding a holiday vibe to the dance.. 🙂Thanks for sharing !
This is scandalous. I shouldn't be able to see your thighs. Smh.
I could watch this little fox all day❤
The spirit of the dance.
Gorgeous lady, great performance!
So beautiful!
A real dance not like that stupid shuffle crap.
20sにタイムスリップしても通用する👍
It can be seen it is not original, because pre-50s women were different. Different moves, different bodies. They were not oversexualized , like modern women, didnt have such features. But I admire afford put into it, that's very high. It's good, some people are focusing on keeping old traditions and customs. But I look only original. I just cannot stand those oversexualized moves. It belongs to this era. pre-50s were clean of it. And I've liked it. For me, it influence me by disturbing vibes, like something, that is unnatural, what doesn't belong there. It's like, when they are doing historical recreation of socialism, and they use tattooed people. It can be seen they are modern, they are from modern age. I cannot stand that. Anyway, it would be very difficult to change something, in this matter. So it's not critic of person. It's critic of age and situation.
There are two of the most athletic and aesthetic minutes you’re going to see anyone doing in your entire life. Just amazing.
My Grandma Sadie’s favorite dancehall was Roseland in NYC. I love you Grandma ❤. I know you’re still dancing 💃 I love you too Mom…born 1921.
She is mustard!💯 absolutely fabulous very talented! a delight to watch! Thank you 🥳💖
As I'v commented on your other videos, you're a winner. Ever looked into working up a Vegas act?
It's so cute and funny.
Love it
fantastic!!
J'aimerais pouvoir danser comme ça 🔥
I always dance like this, when i find half of vanilla shake in trash in Mac :-)))))))))))))))))))).
"Wow this is wildly inappropriate dancing!" (mimicking a grandmother at the time)
You're so wonderful! ❤
Where did she get that dress? It's GREAT!
Oh, my goodness. This makes *me* want to dance in a park for all to see!! 👏👏👏👏
She's a cutie 😘
RALLY, REALLY NICE ! 🙃
Das ist so perfekt getanzt, daß es wirkt, als würde die Musik nachträglich die Bewegung kommentieren und untermalen und nicht nach der Musik getankt werden!
Yeh, but can she FLOSS?
Brilliant 👏
anyone who is interested in this period should read the book "The Last Will and Testament of Lucky Luciano" The 20s in New York have to rank as one of the most fascinating combinations of time and geography/sociology in US history.
Happy feet ❤
Better learn that dance. That's all you'll have left once the Democrats are done with the country and by the way you'll have to do that in secret with headphones on.

Танец недоступный никогда Понасенкову
😀❤️❤️❤️
I can see why they called it "indecent" back then (they did, didn't they?). So openly sexual. Also reminds me of Debbie Reynolds' dance in the "Singing in the rain".
Oh my ❤
I got tired just watching you. I love your energy.
I would have gotten into SO much trouble in the 20's !
What care free fun ( after years of practice}! That girl is all arms and legs in perfect harmony with the dance and music.
My grandmother was a flapper. She used to do this to make me smile. And yes, I can still do the some of the steps.
Really wonderful.
Such great music man
Brilliant!
Awesome!!!
So nice!
GORGEOUS
Amazing.. there are no other words!
